Harrison County, Ohio, USA

  • James SIMMONS was in Loofbourrow's "Senate" Saloon considerably intoxicated last Friday evening.
Some kind of rookery was started when William HALK, the clerk in the saloon, delt Simmons a heavy blow with the butt end of a billiard cue, knocking him senseless and breaking his jaw in two places.
Simmons was dragged to the back door and thrown into the ally, where he was found in a senseless condition shortly after by some passerby.
He is now lying at his home in a critical condition, fears being felt that mortification is setting in.
